Three former Henderson State Reddie football players will get the opportunity to play at the next level as Sean McGrath, Nick Johnson and Antonio Leak signed free agent contracts to play in the NFL.
McGrath, Henderson's tight end for the past two seasons, signed a free agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks.
McGrath was a 2010 First-Team All-Gulf South Conference selection and First-Team Daktronics All-Region pick after he caught 55 passes for 656 yards and four touchdowns.
McGrath was injured for most of the 2011 season but still managed to average 10.2 yards per reception for the season.
Johnson, a two-year letterman at wide receiver for Henderson, will sign a free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams later this week.
Johnson totaled 66 receptions for 750 yards during his two years at Henderson. The Santa Cruz, Calif., product averaged 11.4 yards per reception and recorded five touchdowns.
Leak, a two-year letterman at linebacker, was invited to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' mini-camp.
Leak was a first-team All-Great American Conference selection after compiling 33 tackles on the season, including having 12.5 stops for lost yardage.
The Little Rock product also had six quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and two blocked kicks.
“I am really proud of these players,” said Reddies Football Coach
Scott Maxfield. “Each one of these players has worked hard and is very deserving of this opportunity”
