Henderson State golfer Matt Jennings shot a final-round score of 77 (5-over par) to finish in 54
th-place at the 2012 NCAA Midwest/South Central Regional in Jefferson City, Mo.
Jennings finished the three-day event with a 228 total (12-over par), a vast improvement over last year. In 2011, the sophomore played in the regionals as a freshman and finished in 100
th place with a three-round total of 237 (21-over par) at Victoria Hills Golf Club in DeLand, Fla.
Jennings, had rounds of 76, 75 and 77 and finished with 36 pars which ranked 17
th out of 108 players.
The Jefferson City Country Club Course was demanding with the length of the course playing 7,112 yards along with difficult pin placements. The scoring average per round was 75.81, and only five players finished even or below par.
The Monroe, Iowa product finished the year with a 73.4 scoring average over 23 rounds on the year. Jennings was a the 2012 Great American Conference Tournament champion and earned first-team All-GAC honors.
